Popcorn and Plasma........

Stress. It is a part of life. It comes from many sources, work, outside influences, personal relationships, etc. And effects people in different ways. Headaches, stomach issues, trouble sleeping to name a few. Each person deals with stress in their own way. Some resort to chemical help with a prescription of a sedative or sleeping aid. Some resort to adult beverages, some to eating.
In this world of better living through chemistry, the prescription route is very popular. But is it the best? Masking symptoms does not cure the problem. A painkiller may make your toothache go away, but the massive cavity is still there.
Perhaps a more old fashioned method is better? Instead of bottling stress up inside and let it fester at night, why not go out for a long walk, a run or a bike ride? Maybe actually use the gym membership you have or the fitness center in your building. Get on the treadmill and watch the flat screen television, but not a news station. Turn on a sit-com, a travel show, or something educational. The idea while exercising is to release your pent up stress, not add to it with the latest bad news.
Maybe a quiet night in at home. Make some popcorn and sit and watch that movie you taped 6 months ago and haven't watched, or the series on Space Exploration you received as a gift. Though alone time is great, a quiet night can include one or more friends. Just set the rules that there will be no negative talk allowed.
One problem with stress is people will worry on issues they have no control over. If you cannot change the situation through personal intervention, then do not worry. If you can control the issue then act on it. End a relationship that is going nowhere while you are still friends. Change your living situation if the current one is unsuitable. If work is the basis for your issue, then look for new employment. Stress at work will eventually affect your performance. Check out the opportunities at job.travel.
