Monday, start of a new era

Today is Monday 16FEB. It is the first work day after the lay-offs on Friday. It is a very somber atmosphere in the office. Friends are gone but not forgotten. No one ever said life was fair. All were great workers and will do good in their new positions.
Today is also President's Day, to celebrate both Abraham Lincoln and George Washington's birthdays. The city and federal offices are closed, so the morning commute and parking was a breeze. When I was young, we got both as holidays.
One of President Obama's missions was to sign the stimulus bill today. Hopefully some of the almost $800 billion will help in the travel industry. There was a glimmer of hope with some of the numbers in January. Retail sales were up slightly and home forclosures were down. Just let it be a trend and not a blip.
With job.travel, my former coworkers have a new avenue to find a job in the travel and hospitality industry. Living in South Florida, travel and hospitality are major employers, making it easier to find a position.
