Balancing

Most people's lives involve some sort of balancing act. The biggest is usually between work, family and personal time. Work usually has a minimum amount of time involved, then comes the family and children functions, lastly comes personal. Fulfilling the work pre-requisite allows for the others. Family involves picking up children from school or after school functions, spending time with the spouse, and just together time. Personal is the time when no one expects anything from you. Maybe an afternoon off, no schedule to keep, no one requiring your attention. These periods are few and far between in today's hectic life.
The same can be said about work. I know of no position where it is strictly one job duty. Various tasks need to be performed as part of a job. Even working as a server, if there are no tables, there is always side work. In retail, no customers, straighten the merchandise. Employers expect a full day's work for a full day of pay.
At my place of employment, there are various branches, performing similar but different functions and they are intertwined. Tasks must be completed for each, and none pushed to the back burner for long. Some duties are assigned based on product knowledge, others based on skills.
There are always deadlines to me met. Non performance is grounds for dismissal in most companies. If a deadline is missed, but effort has been shown to meet it, is a much different situation than no additional effort was shown for completion. If the situation is too much to control, waiting does not help, send up a warning as soon as possible so help can be obtained.
With all the tasks that most employees perform in day to day operations, most can be carried out in the travel and hospitality filed. Job.travel is an employment website for jobs in travel and hospitality. Check out the opportunities and apply skills you never realized you had to a rewarding career.
