Over the past few weeks, initial claims for unemployment have slowed, and the continuing claims have also dropped slightly. Could this be signs of a turn around? Unemployment claims peaked earlier this year and are slowly improving.
The stock market staged a few weeks of rally and hardly noticed the bankruptcy of Chrysler and General Motors. Most economist surmised that since it had been discussed for so long, the market had already taken it into account. GM is hovering just over $1 and Chrysler is not listed since it is a privately held company. The union is going to own most of GM and FIAT has rescued Chrysler.
